This is a practical feature especially where the system operates intensively or the quality of raw water changes over time.

The housing has a 1-inch thread, which allows the station to be used as part of a larger water treatment system. This type of set can operate independently as a pre-filter or form part of a more advanced water preparation system. In practice, it is sometimes used before additional filtration devices, although the product itself is not a set such as a reverse osmosis filter, osmotic filter, or reverse osmosis system.
