RO4 Aqua Vita DEMI was designed to produce fully demineralized water. This solution is especially valued by aquarists who need a stable, clean base for preparing water for marine and freshwater aquariums.

The system uses the reverse osmosis method, regarded as one of the most advanced water purification methods. The filter removes up to 99% of mechanical impurities, dissolved compounds, and microorganisms. As a result, the water obtained can be used wherever very high purity is required.

The water produced by this filter is used not only in aquaristics. It can also be used for cosmetic purposes, laboratory applications, and steam irons.

How the 4-stage filtration system works

1. AQUAVITA FCPS20 sediment filter

A high-quality sediment cartridge with a filtration accuracy of 20 microns is responsible for the initial retention of mechanical impurities present in tap water.

At this stage, the following are removed, among others:

• sand,
• silt,
• rust,
• other particles with grain sizes up to 20 µm.

Polypropylene nonwoven cartridges are distinguished by very good contaminant absorption. Their structure resembles foam, with a large number of open-cell microbubbles on the surface. The cartridge has PZH and TUV approvals as well as BPA FREE and PHALATE FREE markings.

2. AQUAVITA FCCBL10 sintered activated carbon filter

The second stage is essential for protecting the osmotic membrane. The carbon block effectively removes 98% to 99% of free chlorine from the water, as well as chlorine-derived solvents and aromatic hydrocarbons, additionally improving the taste and odor of the water.

The cartridge also reduces by up to 85%:

• chlorine-derived pesticides,
• polyaromatic compounds,
• phenol,
• benzene,
• organic substances.

The sintered carbon block produces less dust than granular carbon. The cartridge has PZH and TUV approvals as well as BPA FREE and PHALATE FREE markings.

3. Purolite MB400 resin

The third stage is responsible for final demineralization and the removal of residual impurities. A ready-to-use, homogeneous mixture of anion and cation exchange resins from Purolite, intended for water demineralization, is used here.

MB400 resin is used in household and industrial devices for polishing osmotic water. The cartridge is disassemblable, so the resin canister can be opened and refilled. The cartridge itself fits 10-inch housings.

4. PENTAIR TLC-75 osmotic membrane

The osmotic membrane is the heart of the entire system. It is a semi-permeable membrane made of many layers wound onto a perforated core placed inside the cartridge.

The filtration process works as follows:

• contaminated water is forced under pressure onto the membrane surface,
• water particles pass through the microscopic pores of the membrane,
• impurities are separated and rejected to the drain,
• purified water enters the central core through openings,
• under pressure, it flows out of the membrane as purified water.

The membrane retains 96-99% of dissolved organic and inorganic impurities, heavy metals, and radioactive elements with a size of 0.01 micron. Its capacity is 75 GPD, which is approximately 270 liters per day while maintaining appropriate feed water parameters.

Operation and practical use

The RO4 Aqua Vita DEMI filter has been prepared for convenient operation in an aquarium installation. The complete accessory set allows the system to be connected, and the design based on 10-inch housings makes later replacement or refilling of cartridges easier.

The disassemblable cartridge with MB400 resin allows repeated refilling, which is practical during regular operation. The osmotic membrane is protected by the earlier mechanical and carbon filtration stages, allowing the entire reverse osmosis system to work more effectively and stably.
