Description
The Purolite MB400 resin is used to obtain water with high chemical purity. The properties of the resin are achieved by mixing two ion exchange resins - strongly acidic cation exchange resin and strongly basic anion exchange resin.
Typical applications of MB400 resin:
- water for laboratory purposes
- demineralized water for medical / dental equipment
- DEMI water for marine aquaristics
- demineralization of water used for window cleaning (no streaks / smudges)
- reduction of water conductivity - the resin allows obtaining water with conductivity of 0 uS or close to 0 uS depending on the input water parameters and flow rate
How does the water demineralization process work?
In the filtration column, there is a mixed cation exchange resin (in hydrogen form H+) with an anion exchange resin (in hydroxyl form (OH-). Water in contact with the cation exchange resin releases all cations, which are exchanged for hydrogen ions. Passing through the anion exchange resin, all negatively charged ions are exchanged for hydroxyl ions. Hydrogen ions and hydroxyl ions combine to form demineralized water, whose chemical formula is close to H²O.

- Particle size range: 0.3-1.2 mm

- Recommended raw water flow rate: 10-20 OZ/h
- Recommended demineralized water flow rate: 20-40 OZ/h
- Working capacity: 30 g CaCO₃/l
- Conductivity of treated water for one column: 1.0-5.0 uS/cm
- Conductivity after two columns arranged in series: 0.1-0.5 uS/cm
- pH of treated water: 6.5-7.5

- Maximum operating temperature: 60 degrees Celsius
- Minimum bed height: 70 cm
- It is recommended that the water for demineralization be pre-treated by reverse osmosis
