Electronic assembly and EMS manufacturing

Stable quality of water for washing PCB boards, preparing flux, cooling, and humidifying – less sediment, less corrosion, fewer unpredictable downtimes.

Who is it for? For electronic assembly plants (SMT/THT), PCB manufacturers, EMS, electronic service providers, and plants withwith tile cleaners. We select the layout after analyzing technological processes and quality requirements.

Industry description

In electronic plants, water is used, among other things, in PCB cleaning machines (inline and batch), forpreparation of cleaning solutions, rinsing after chemical processes, in cooling systems of devices, and for humidifying air in ESD areas.

In many cases, demineralized / RO water with a specific conductivity is required to avoid ionic residues and deposits on circuit boards and in devices.

After analyzing technical data sheets, machine manufacturers' requirements, and the current method of obtaining water (cans, disposable cartridges,RO, DI) we select a system that stabilizes water quality and reduces costs.

The most common water problems in electronic plants

  • Too high conductivity / too many ions in the water for washing and rinsing PCBs
  • Deposits and residues on the boards after the washing and drying process
  • Limescale and deposits in heat exchangers, nozzles, tanksmyjek and on the walls of the chambers
  • Faster wear of pumps, valves, and elements of the installation supplying production lines
  • High costs of purchasing ready-to-use demineralized water in canisters or single-use cartridges

What we offer

  • RO systems /demineralization with polishing (DI) for process water for PCB cleaners
  • Softening and filtration of feed water for the technological node (cleaners, coolers, humidification)
  • Buffers of purified water with circulation to ensure stable conductivity over time
  • Possibility of division into zones: high-quality process water + technical water for other applications
  • Installation, commissioning, training of maintenance personnel and periodic service with parameter monitoring

Your benefits

  • Stable quality of process water compliant with SMT/PCB line requirements
  • Less deposits and residues on boards after washing, fewer complaints and returns
  • Longer lifespan of washers, pumps, heat exchangers andpower supply installations
  • Lower cost of 1 liter of demineralized water vs. purchasing ready-made canisters
  • Better predictability of downtimes and planning of production line service

Micro-scenarios

  • EMS plant with one SMT line: compact RO + DI setup for batch washer, buffer tank, and constantconductivity control, no more lifting canisters of water.
  • PCB Manufacturer: central purified water system for the washing and rinsing stage, with circulation and monitoring, reduced risk of ionic residues on the boards.
  • Consumer electronics factory: process water area for washers and technical area for cooling and humidifying, cost optimization of treatment.
  • Electronic service with a washing station:small RO/DI system for plate washing, improving repair quality and reducing the risk of post-service issues due to washing residues.

FAQ — frequently asked questions about electronic betting

Can the process water system be connected to several washers at the same time?
Yes, we design central systems with a buffer and circulation, which can power several devices simultaneously. We select the efficiency and water storage to meet the peak demand of production lines.

What conductivity of water can be achieved?
It depends on the configuration (RO, mixed ion exchange resin, polishing). For most PCB washing applications, we achieve the conductivity level required by washer manufacturers –the details are determined based on technological requirements and the catalog sheets of the devices.

Will we still need water in canisters?
In many cases, a central purified water system allows for a complete elimination of canisters or limits them to emergency situations. We compare with you the cost per liter of water from your own system and from purchase, so that togetherto choose the optimal investment variant.

What data is needed for the preliminary valuation?
The following are useful: a list of devices using purified water (washers, lines, coolers), requirements for conductivity/water class, estimated consumption per shift/per day, results of the feed water tests, and a few photos of the existing installation and technical rooms.

Will the installation interfere with production?
We plan the work in consultation with the production and maintenance departments. Some of the work is carried out while the factory is operating, and we organize the switch to the new system during short service windows, e.g., on weekends or outside of the main production shifts.

How does the service and monitoring of water parameters work?
We establish a schedule for inspections, replacement of cartridges and consumables, as well as a method for monitoring conductivity (locally or with registration). We can prepare simple reports for the quality and maintenance departments to ensure that water parameters are documented in the plant's quality system (ISO, IATF, etc.).
