Complete 3-stage filtration set for Big Blue 20

HHBB20B is a set of filter cartridges intended for BIG BLUE 20 housings used in household water treatment systems. The solution is based on three complementary operating stages: mechanical filtration, iron removal, and carbon filtration. This arrangement makes it possible to simultaneously remove sediment, reduce iron compounds, and improve the organoleptic properties of water.

The set helps protect the home water system, fittings, and household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers. It works well wherever multi-stage purification of domestic utility water and cold drinking water is needed, and in the iron removal section also for hot utility water.

How the HHBB20B set works

Stage I – FCPS20M20B, 20 micron mechanical cartridge

In the first stage, the FCPS20M20B mechanical cartridge operates, designed for 20-inch BIG BLUE housings. It is distinguished by very good contaminant absorption capacity. Its structure resembles foam, with a large number of open-cell microbubbles on the surface, which supports effective sediment capture.

The cartridge removes sand, silt, rust, and other mechanical impurities from mains water. As a result, it supports the protection of home water systems and household appliances. It is made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric resistant to chemicals and microbial growth. It is intended for the treatment of cold drinking water or general utility water.

Stage II – FCCFE20BB, iron removal cartridge with active media

The second stage is the FCCFE20BB cartridge, an iron removal cartridge equipped with active media designed to reduce iron compounds dissolved in water. This solution helps protect household appliances and heating equipment while also limiting aesthetic problems typical of water with elevated iron content.

Inside the cartridge there is a special fine-grained granulate with a high capacity for capturing iron ions. The cartridge design has been developed to effectively improve the taste and odor of water by reducing metallic aftertaste. The cartridge also has its own final filter, which prevents granulate particles from escaping beyond the filter.

The composition of the media used inside the housing corrects the water reaction (pH), which improves the iron removal process. Water flowing through the cartridge penetrates the entire ion-exchange granulate bed, supporting its maximum performance.

Stage III – FCCBL20BB-S, carbon cartridge made from coconut shells

The third filtration stage is formed by FCCBL20BB-S, a professional carbon cartridge made of specially sintered activated carbon from coconut shells. Thanks to its high density and high adsorption capacity, it effectively reduces chlorine and other organic contaminants present in water.

Activated carbon helps eliminate organic contaminants, improves the taste and odor of water, and reduces chlorine levels in mains water systems. In applications related to the treatment of water from a private well, it supports improved oxidizability and water clarification.

The sintered carbon block form is less prone to dusting than cartridges with granular carbon, which is why it performs well in main water installations. Carbon from coconut shells is characterized by a very large active surface area, making it an effective solution for reducing chlorine and organic contaminants.

The set includes 3 antibacterial centering discs. They are made using BACInix™ antibacterial technology, which uses nanosilver with bacteriostatic action. Application in a household water treatment system

The HHBB20B set works well as part of a household filtration system intended to improve water quality throughout the entire installation. It can be an important preliminary stage before more advanced solutions such as an osmotic filter, a reverse osmosis filter, a reverse osmosis system, or reverse osmosis installed at the point of water intake. Thanks to this, water directed to further treatment stages is first purified of sediment, iron compounds, and some organic contaminants.
