What does BOD mean in practice?
The measurement determines the loss of oxygen during incubation of a sample with active microorganisms for a set time and at a controlled temperature.
When does it matter?
The result depends on inoculation, sample toxicity and the presence of nitrification, so it requires a strict procedure.
Which solutions are related to it?
A time index, for example BOD5, is given and interpreted together with the COD and the nature of the stream under study.
