Honeywell F76S-11/2AA is used in both domestic and industrial installations. As a pre-filter, it helps protect the installation against mechanical impurities and is an important component of a water treatment system. It can operate as an independent water filter or as part of a larger water filtration system working together with additional treatment technologies.

In practice, such a mechanical filter is often installed before more advanced solutions, such as an osmotic filter, reverse osmosis filter, reverse osmosis system, or reverse osmosis unit, in order to limit the flow of solid particles to subsequent filtration stages and protect a more precise filter cartridge.

Operating principle

The filter operating design was developed to combine effective filtration with quick and efficient cleaning of the cartridge without the need to interrupt the supply of filtered water.

• The filter insert consists of an upper and lower section.
• In the “filtration” knob position, the upper filter insert is closed so that water passes only through the lower, main insert from the outside to the inside.
• After opening the ball valve to perform backwashing, the main filter insert is moved downward until the inflow of water from the outer side is stopped. At the same time, the water flow to the upper part of the filter is opened.
• The water used for cleaning passes through the screen, rotor, and main filter insert from the inside to the outside. This means that the insert is thoroughly cleaned over its entire surface at full inlet pressure.
• The filter automatically returns to the operating position after the ball valve is closed.
• The internal rotor flushes impurities adhering to the mesh through discharge openings.

• Ensure access to the device so that the pressure gauge is clearly visible – with the transparent filter housing, the contamination level of the filter mesh can be easily determined, which facilitates maintenance and inspection.
• Installation directly after the water meter in accordance with DIN 1988, Part 2.

Operation and maintenance

Operation of the F76S-11/2AA model has been designed to be as simple and fast as possible. The user can monitor the filter's operating condition thanks to the transparent housing and pressure gauge. An additional convenience is a special setting ring reminding the user about the next backwash.

Backwashing allows the cartridge to be cleaned without removing the device from the installation. This solution saves time, reduces service downtime, and decreases the amount of water needed for cleaning.
