How does a softener with a carbon filter work?

• in the water flowing through a special media inside the device, there is an exchange of calcium and magnesium ions (responsible for water hardness) for sodium ions,
• after a few or several days, when the ion exchange capacity of the media ends, automatic
• regeneration of the media occurs with a solution of water and salt, regeneration lasts about 2 hours, occurs at a time convenient for you (e.g., at night), and during this time you can use water in the house (unsalted),
• by adding a layer of activated carbon to the device, the unpleasant taste and smell of chlorine are additionally removed from the water.
