How does a water softener work?

A water softener works on the principle of ion exchange, reducing the problem of hard water throughout the building installation.

• in water flowing through the special resin inside the device, calcium and magnesium ions responsible for water hardness are exchanged for harmless sodium ions,
• after several or a dozen days, when the ion exchange capacity of the resin is exhausted, the resin is automatically regenerated with a water and salt solution,
• resin regeneration takes about 2 h, takes place at a time convenient for you, for example at night, and during this time you can still use water in the house, but it will be untreated water.

Operation and installation

The eVOLUTION 600 POWER model has been designed so that everyday handling is kept to a minimum, while installation allows soft water to be supplied to the entire building.

• the ion exchange resin is effective for about 10–15 years, depending on water quality,
• the softener is installed on the main cold water supply line in the house,
• the softener installation site must be equipped with an electrical outlet and a drain connection to the sewer system,
• the only maintenance task required for the softener is periodically refilling the tank with tablet salt, every several weeks.
