What does water desalination mean in practice?
Salt removal requires an ion separation process, most commonly RO, electrodialysis, or distillation, to produce a concentrated waste stream.
When does it matter?
As salinity increases, the required osmotic pressure, energy consumption and the risk of sediment formation on the membrane increase.
Which solutions are related to it?
A full ion balance is performed, prefiltration and recovery are selected, and the concentrate is discharged in accordance with local conditions.
