Langelier index is a computational indicator of water saturation with calcium carbonate, indicating the tendency to precipitate or dissolve CaCO3.

What does Langelier index mean in practice?

LSI compares the actual pH with the calcium carbonate saturation pH based on water composition and temperature.

When does it matter?

A positive value indicates the potential for CaCO3 precipitation and a negative value indicates undersaturation, but is not a stand-alone index of overall corrosion.

Which solutions are related to it?

Calculations are made from current pH, alkalinity, calcium, TDS and temperature data and verify the behavior of the installation.
