What does mechanical filtration mean in practice?
Mechanical filters are selected according to particle size and quantity, flow and allowable pressure drop, often with degrees of accuracy.
When does it matter?
A first stage that is too fine will quickly clog, while one that is too loose allows sediment to reach valves, diaphragms and end devices.
Which solutions are related to it?
For larger contaminants, mesh or discs are used, and for finer contaminants, sedimentation inserts or backwashed beds are used.
