3-Stage Mechanical Water Filter with Iron Removal and Carbon

Three-stage pre-filter for the home

This is a complete 3-stage pre-filter for installation at the point where the household water system enters the home. It has been designed to combine three key functions important in the daily operation of the system: cleaning water of mechanical impurities, iron removal, and chlorine reduction.

With this configuration, the system works well as pre-filtration for the entire household water installation. Unlike solutions such as reverse osmosis, an RO filter, or a reverse osmosis system usually installed under the sink for drinking water, this set operates at the system inlet and protects utility water throughout the whole house.

How the 3-stage filtration works

The effectiveness of the system is ensured by specialist Aquafilter brand cartridges. Each filter cartridge is responsible for a different stage of water treatment, allowing the whole system to operate in multiple stages and support installation protection as well as improved utility water quality.

Stage I – FCPS20

At the first stage, an FCPS20 polypropylene nonwoven cartridge with a filtration rating of 20 microns is used. This cartridge is intended for filtering mechanical, that is sediment, contaminants present in both municipal water and water from a private well.

Its task is to capture fine solid fractions before they reach the subsequent filtration stages. Thanks to this, the first stage protects the downstream elements of the system as well as the water installation itself.

Stage II – FCCFE

The second stage is responsible for water iron removal. The FCCFE cartridge with active media effectively captures iron compounds dissolved in water. It is especially useful where metallic water taste, traces of iron, and deposits causing staining of fittings and appliances are a problem.

The iron-removal cartridge contains a special fine-grained granulate with a high capacity for capturing iron ions. It has been designed to improve water taste and odor by limiting the characteristic metallic aftertaste. It also has its own final filter that prevents granulate particles from escaping beyond the filter. The composition of the media inside the housing corrects the water reaction, i.e. pH, in order to improve the iron removal process.

Stage III – FCCBL-S

The third filtration stage consists of the FCCBL-S granular carbon cartridge with carbon made from coconut shells. This stage is responsible for improving water taste and odor and for reducing chlorine and its derivatives. Granular cartridges do not cause pressure drop in the installation, which is why they are well suited for installation at the point where water enters the house.

Pressure gauges for system operation monitoring

The set includes 2 pressure meters, i.e. pressure gauges. They allow pressure values to be read and make it easier to monitor system operation. This is a practical feature that helps determine when cartridge replacement is necessary.

Antibacterial centering discs

The set includes 3 centering discs made with BACInix™ antibacterial technology using nanosilver. This is a bacteriostatic solution that helps prevent the growth of microorganisms inside the filtration system, supports extended operating time, and protects the system against microbiological contamination.
