AKVARO RO3 75 GPD is a complete aquarium filter with an OSMOTEC membrane, intended for water treatment in aquarium applications. After filtration, the water becomes clean, soft, and free from a wide range of contaminants, which helps prepare suitable parameters for water changes and further mineralization according to the needs of the tank.

Reverse osmosis works without chemicals. It is a natural process of separating contaminants on a membrane, which makes a reverse osmosis filter suitable wherever predictable water quality matters. Another advantage of this model is its speed and good capacity — there is no need to wait many hours to prepare water for a water change.

Basic use of the filter for aquarists

Lowering water pH

The RO filter can help lower water pH. It is not possible to determine exactly by how many pH points the value will be reduced, as this depends on the parameters of the feed water. In most cases, it is about 1–2 pH points, but the final result depends on the quality of the incoming water.

Water softening

The RO membrane effectively removes calcium and magnesium compounds from the water, thereby reducing general hardness usually to zero or near zero dH. Here too, the result depends on the parameters of the incoming water.

Filtration stages

1. Inline polypropylene foam cartridge

The first stage is responsible for trapping mechanical impurities such as sand, silt, rust particles, and other solid contaminants. This is important protection for the subsequent elements of the reverse osmosis system. The cartridge should be replaced at least every 6 months.

2. Inline carbon cartridges

The second filtration stage removes contaminants such as chlorine, chlorine compounds, and organic contaminants from the water. This means the water reaching the osmotic membrane is better prepared for precise filtration. The cartridges should be replaced at least every 6 months.

3. OSMOTEC 75 GPD osmotic membrane

The heart of the set is the OSMOTEC 75 GPD osmotic membrane, made of a set of semi-permeable thin-film membranes. Combined with pre-filtration using polypropylene nonwoven fabric and activated carbon, it allows you to obtain truly clean water.

The membrane removes 90–98% of all compounds dissolved in water, as well as bacteria and viruses. Its service life is usually 3 to 6 years, depending on the level of water contamination and regular replacement of the pre-filters.

Installation and daily use

The set is ready for installation and has been prepared to make installation convenient in home conditions. The brackets allow the filter to be mounted in a cabinet or on the wall, and the drain clamp enables wastewater discharge. The included brass water supply valve, 3/8" connection, and 5-meter connection hose make it easy to connect the system.

In daily use, it is worth remembering that the actual capacity and the ratio of purified to rejected water depend on pressure and water temperature. To maintain the best water treatment results, pre-filter replacement deadlines should be observed and the system should be operated within the specified operating parameters.
