How the device works:
- Water softening involves removing the components that cause water hardness. This process consists of exchanging calcium and magnesium ions (responsible for water hardness) for sodium ions and occurs during the flow of water through the ion exchange resin. When the ion exchange capacity of the resin is exhausted, it undergoes a regeneration process using a brine solution.
- By using activated carbon in the device, the lifespan of the ion exchange resin is extended, and unpleasant chlorine taste and smell are additionally removed from the water. It eliminates organic contaminants to trace amounts.
- The KDF media reduces the concentration of iron and heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic) and exhibits bacteriostatic properties, protecting the media from the development of bacterial flora.
