electrodeionisation is a continuous EDI process combining ion-selective membranes, ion-exchange resin and an electric field to polish ions from water.

What does electrodeionisation mean in practice?

The field transports ions and functionally regenerates the resin without periodic acid and caustic dosing used in conventional demineralisation.

When does it matter?

EDI requires pre-desalted feed, usually RO permeate; hardness, CO2, silica and fouling can impair the module.

Which solutions are related to it?

Monitor feed and product conductivity, concentrate flows, current, pressure drop and pretreatment performance.
