What does in-line filter mean in practice?
It is mounted on the duct maintaining the flow direction, service space and position required by the housing design.
When does it matter?
Connection diameter does not independently determine capacity; the cartridge and housing can cause a large pressure drop at peak drawdown.

The flow, pressure, temperature, cartridge accuracy and housing material are selected, and shut-off valves are provided before service.
