What does osmotic membrane mean in practice?
The membrane works tangentially: part of the stream flows through the active layer as permeate, and the concentrate flushes the retained ingredients into the drain.
When does it matter?
Chlorine, mineral deposits, biofilm and operation with improper recovery shorten the life of the membrane and lower its retention.
Which solutions are related to it?
Appropriate prefiltration is used, pressure and conductivity are controlled, and wear is assessed based on calculated rejection, not solely on the age of the element.
