What does sedimentation filtration mean in practice?
Sedimentation efficiency increases as the flow speed decreases and the particles are of sufficient size and density to settle.
When does it matter?
Very fine colloids do not settle spontaneously and may require coagulation or a more thorough filtration barrier.
Which solutions are related to it?
A settling tank, hydrocyclone, multi-layer filter or sedimentation cartridge is used, and the accumulated sediment is removed by regular rinsing.
