Complete pre-filter for protecting a domestic installation

The 2-stage pre-filter was designed for installation at the inlet of a home water system. Its task is to pre-treat the water before it is distributed further through the installation. In practice, this means simultaneous protection of pipes, fittings, heaters, household appliances, and heating components against mechanical contaminants and limescale deposits.

This solution works wherever effective installation protection and longer service life of water-contacting devices matter. The filter can also serve as a valuable preliminary stage before more advanced systems, such as an osmotic filter, reverse osmosis filter, reverse osmosis system, or another reverse osmosis system, because it reduces the inflow of contaminants and supports the operation of subsequent filtration elements.

How the 2-stage filtration works

The system operates in two complementary stages. The first cartridge is responsible for mechanical filtration, and the second for water softening. This configuration first retains sediment contaminants and then limits limescale deposition by reducing the ions responsible for water hardness.

Stage I – FCPS20

The first filter cartridge is the FCPS20, made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric with a filtration accuracy of 20 microns. This cartridge is intended for removing mechanical contaminants, also known as sediment contaminants. As a result, it effectively supports protection of the entire installation from the very beginning of water flow.

Advantages of the FCPS20 cartridge:

• very high filtration accuracy,
• removes fine fractions of solid contaminants from water, such as silt, sludge, and other deposits larger than 20 microns, present both in water from a private well and in municipal water,
• serves as protection for expensive carbon, softening, iron-removal cartridges, as well as for the water installation itself and fittings,
• the cartridge is made of high-quality foam, i.e. polypropylene nonwoven fabric, formed in a way that ensures water is filtered through the entire structure of the cartridge.

FCPS20 cartridge lifespan: 3–6 months depending on water quality.

Stage II – FCCST

The second filtration stage is the FCCST, a water-softening cartridge with ion-exchange resin granules. It works by removing calcium and magnesium ions from the water and replacing them with harmless sodium ions. As a result, the filter helps reduce the formation of limescale deposits in the installation and in devices that use water.

The cartridge is recommended for protecting household appliances, heating equipment, and plumbing installations against the accumulation of calcium and magnesium deposits.

Advantages of the FCCST cartridge:

• the cartridge contains technologically treated ion-exchange granules with grain sizes from 0.2 to 0.7 mm,
• it is characterized by exceptionally effective ion exchange capacity, replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions to soften water,
• used for cold and hot utility water,
• prevents limescale buildup in household appliances and industrial machines,
• the cartridge components have been approved by NSF and FDA,
• the cartridge has a PZH hygienic certificate,
• designed so that water flowing through the cartridge penetrates the entire ion-exchange granule bed, ensuring maximum performance.

FCCST cartridge lifespan: 3–6 months depending on water quality.

Antibacterial centering discs

The set includes 2 antibacterial centering discs. They were made using BACInix™ antibacterial technology, which uses nanosilver with bacteriostatic properties. This solution helps prevent the development of microorganisms inside the filtration system, supports hygienic system operation, and reduces the risk of microbiological contamination.

Operation and practical use

The filter was developed for convenient use in home conditions. The 3-piece housing body ensures maximum tightness while also making cartridge replacement easier. This is especially important in installations where the filter operates regularly and is intended to effectively protect subsequent devices against deposits and hard water.

The 2-stage system can be used as a standalone pre-filter or as an element preparing water for further treatment solutions in which an additional filter cartridge with a different function is used.
