Description

PS1-PROTECT UST-M antibacterial insert 1 micron is an advanced filter cartridge for preliminary mechanical water filtration, designed for systems such as a water filter, water filtration system, as well as selected setups in which a reverse osmosis filter or reverse osmosis system operates. The cartridge made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric with 1 µm precision effectively retains rust, sand, silt, and suspended solids, while also limiting bacterial growth. The three-layer, gradient design increases the efficiency of depth filtration, extends cartridge life, and makes it easier to monitor wear thanks to the replacement indicator.

Effective mechanical filtration and antibacterial protection

PS1-PROTECT UST-M is one of the most advanced antibacterial sediment cartridges made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric. It was designed to effectively capture fine solid contaminants from as little as 1 micron, which helps protect the downstream components of the filtration system and improves the operating conditions of the entire water treatment setup.

The cartridge removes typical mechanical impurities from water, such as rust, sand, silt, and suspended solids. Thanks to this, it works well as a protective stage for more advanced filtration solutions, including sets in which an osmotic filter or reverse osmosis is used.

The antibacterial protection layer uses a safe substance approved by the FDA as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Unlike many similar solutions, it does not contain nanomaterials or other substances that may cause side effects, including allergic reactions.

Key advantages of the PS1-PROTECT UST-M cartridge

  • prevents the growth of bacteria, including E. coli and staphylococcus,
  • extended cartridge life by 50%,
  • material tested by the Department of Immunology and Infectious Biology of the University of Lodz and by an Italian laboratory with international accreditation,
  • unlike other antibacterial substances, it is not released into the environment,
  • contains no nanomaterials or heavy metals,
  • retains solid contaminants such as rust, sand, silt, and suspended solids,
  • modern technological process fully supervised by domestic engineers and technologists,
  • exhibits bactericidal activity confirmed in independent tests in several different laboratories and according to ISO22196 and JIS Z 2801,
  • patent pending,
  • depth filtration enables more effective filtration compared to surface filtration; the cartridge retains more contaminants, which translates into a longer service life,
  • the three-layer structure provides a gradient design in which the micron rating decreases toward the inside of the cartridge, which extends its service life,
  • the wear indicator signals the need to replace the cartridge; the appearance of the logo means the cartridge is used up.

How does the 1 µm cartridge work?

Contaminated water flows through the cartridge toward its core. Sediments present in the water are retained by micropores whose diameter decreases toward the inside of the cartridge. This means that larger particles are captured closer to the surface, while finer fractions are retained deeper inside, in subsequent layers of the filtration material.

This mode of operation increases the effective filtration area, improves contaminant removal efficiency, and allows better use of the entire cartridge structure. In practice, this means not only more precise water cleaning from sediments, but also longer and more stable operation compared with classic surface filtration.

Depth filtration and three-layer gradient structure

PS1-PROTECT UST-M uses depth filtration, which is more effective than surface filtration wherever capturing a greater amount of sediment without rapidly clogging the working surface is important. The three-layer gradient design means that the micron rating decreases toward the inside of the cartridge, and contaminants are distributed throughout the material structure in layers instead of accumulating only on the outer surface.

This solution results in better performance and extends cartridge life by up to 50%.

Safe antibacterial technology

The bactericidal substance contained in the cartridge acts on the bacterial cell wall, which is the element that distinguishes a bacterial cell from a human cell. It causes morphological changes leading to the disruption of the cell’s structural integrity, i.e. lysis. As a result, it eliminates bacteria or prevents them from multiplying.

The selective mechanism of action makes the solution safe for humans. Additionally, the antibacterial substance used is not released into the environment, which is an important usability and safety advantage in everyday operation.

Cartridge life depends on water quality. With higher sediment concentrations or more demanding operating conditions, replacement may be needed sooner. The wear indicator makes it easier to determine the replacement time — the appearance of the logo means the cartridge is used up.

Application in water filtration systems

The cartridge can operate as an effective mechanical stage in various water treatment solutions. It performs well wherever it is necessary to retain fine sediment while simultaneously limiting bacterial growth on the filtration material. It is a good choice for protecting subsequent filtration stages and improving the operating stability of the entire system.

Due to its 1 µm filtration precision and PP nonwoven construction, PS1-PROTECT UST-M is suitable as a cartridge supporting the operation of household and point-of-use installations, including sets based on a water filter, an advanced water filtration system, and setups using a reverse osmosis filter.

Operation and replacement

Regular cartridge replacement is crucial for maintaining high filtration efficiency and protecting the subsequent system components. Thanks to the wear indicator, the user receives clear information about the need for replacement. This is a practical solution that makes it easier to continuously monitor the operating condition without having to guess the degree of wear of the filtration material.

The durability of the cartridge is primarily affected by the quality of the feed water. The greater the amount of suspended solids and sediment, the faster the filtration material becomes loaded. In applications with variable water quality, it is worth checking the condition of the cartridge more often to maintain high mechanical filtration efficiency.

FAQ

What is the PS1-PROTECT UST-M cartridge used for?

It is a sediment cartridge for mechanical water filtration that retains fine solid contaminants such as rust, sand, silt, and suspended solids, while additionally limiting bacterial growth on the filtration material.

What filtration precision does this cartridge provide?

The cartridge operates with 1 µm precision, allowing it to effectively capture very fine sediment present in water.

What contaminants does the cartridge retain?

PS1-PROTECT UST-M primarily retains rust, sand, silt, and various types of mechanical suspended solids.

How does the antibacterial action work?

The substance used acts on the bacterial cell wall, causing changes that lead to disruption of its integrity. As a result, bacteria are eliminated or cannot multiply.

Is the antibacterial substance safe?

Yes. A safe substance approved by the FDA as GRAS has been used. Additionally, it is not released into the environment.

Does the cartridge contain nanomaterials or heavy metals?

No. The cartridge contains no nanomaterials or heavy metals.

Why is the three-layer gradient design beneficial?

The gradient, three-layer design means that larger contaminants are retained closer to the surface, while smaller ones are retained deeper inside the cartridge. This increases filtration efficiency and extends the service life of the filtration material.

What does the cartridge wear indicator mean?

The indicator informs you that replacement is necessary. The appearance of the logo means the cartridge is used up and should be replaced.

What does cartridge life depend on?

Service life depends primarily on the quality of the filtered water. The more sediment and suspended solids there are, the faster the cartridge wears out.
