Linear carbon cartridge for improving water quality

L-GAC UST-M is filled with high-quality granular activated carbon made from coconut shells. This filtration material effectively supports water treatment, reduces unwanted compounds affecting taste and odor, and helps provide more pleasant water for everyday use.

The cartridge was designed as an inline filter, so it performs well wherever a compact form, convenient replacement, and easy integration of the filtration component into an existing installation are important.

Applications of the L-GAC UST-M cartridge

This model is standardly installed in reverse osmosis systems. It can operate in various places within the installation, depending on the system design and the expected filtration function.

• as a pre-filter in built-in systems,
• as a final filter, the so-called polishing filter, in most typical reverse osmosis systems,
• upstream of refrigerators with a water dispenser,
• upstream of refrigerators equipped with an ice maker.

In practice, this means that the cartridge can support both the protection of subsequent components of the filtration system and the final improvement of the organoleptic properties of water. This is especially important in installations where an RO filter or an osmosis membrane is in operation and the user expects good-quality drinking water and convenient use.

How coconut shell activated carbon media works

The effectiveness of the cartridge results not only from the quality of the activated carbon used, but also from the properly selected grain size. The grains were selected so that the water remains in contact with the media for longer, which increases the effectiveness of contaminant adsorption.

Longer contact between the water and the filtration medium translates into effective improvement of taste and odor as well as efficient removal of unwanted substances that reduce the comfort of everyday water use.

Installation and compatibility

The L-GAC UST-M filter has an end connection used in many filters available on the Polish market. The internal 1/4 inch openings allow installation fittings to be screwed in, and a watertight connection is achieved using PTFE tape.

The cartridge design was developed so that installation and later replacement are simple and do not require specialist tools. This is a convenient solution both for servicing a household reverse osmosis system and for installations supplying water-cooling appliances.

Operation and recommended replacement

The replacement frequency depends on where the cartridge is installed in the system and on the quality of the incoming water. In practice, different service intervals are provided depending on the function the cartridge performs in the system.

• If the filter is installed upstream of the membrane, as in built-in systems, replacement is recommended after 3 months, but not less frequently than every six months.
• If the filter operates at the final stage of water treatment, the cartridge may be replaced not less frequently than once a year.

The cartridge lifespan depends on the amount of water and the degree of contamination of the source water. In installations with a higher load or more challenging water parameters, regular inspection of the filter condition helps maintain high filtration efficiency.
