Limescale deposits on the components of household appliances (drums, heating elements, etc.) cause equipment damage and increased energy consumption. Polyphosphate crystals cause the phosphate contained in water to be converted into calcium phosphate, preventing the so-called "boiler scale" from accumulating on household appliances. Unlike ion exchange resins, polyphosphate does not reduce water hardness. Calcium phosphate is not absorbable by the human body, which is why cartridges or filters with polyphosphate should not be used for treating drinking water filtration.
