Mechanical filter for protecting installations and equipment

The original Honeywell FF06 sediment filter was designed for pre-filtration of water at main connections. Its purpose is to capture solid particles that may accelerate the wear of fittings, valves, taps, household appliances, and other components of the water installation.

The stainless steel mesh insert retains mechanical impurities sized 100 microns and larger. It is a practical solution for users who want to improve installation safety and organize the first stage of water treatment before further filtration stages, such as an osmotic filter, a reverse osmosis system, or another specialist reverse osmosis filter.

Application

The FF06 belongs to filters with a filter mesh rinsing function. During normal operation, it continuously filters water, retaining impurities on the mesh such as:

• rust,
• sand,
• hemp fibers,
• other mechanical impurities from 100 microns in size.

Impurities collect at the bottom of the transparent housing and can be removed by briefly opening the ball valve. The compact dimensions of the filter make installation easier in places where installation space is limited.

Typical applications

The FF06 can be installed in all types of installations. It is particularly suitable:

• in domestic installations, where it helps maintain proper operation of fittings and equipment and maintain compliance with applicable standards,
• in selected industrial applications,
• in installations where there are devices requiring protection against impurities,
• in installations where the use of a pressure regulator is not required at static pressure up to 5 bar,
• in installations where a pressure regulator is installed, but it cannot be equipped with a filter.

Scope of application

Working medium: water.

The filter is designed for drinking water. It may also be used in process installations, provided that its effectiveness for a given application is individually verified.

Operating principle

Water flows into the filter and enters the filtration chamber. It then flows into the filter insert from the outside. Mechanical impurities are retained on the outer surface of the mesh.

After opening the ball valve, the filter insert is rinsed and the accumulated impurities are discharged outside. An important advantage of this design is that the continuous flow of filtered water is maintained during flushing.

Operation and daily use

The Honeywell FF06-1/2AA model was designed for convenient operation. The transparent bowl allows quick assessment of the level of accumulated sediment without the need to dismantle the device. When impurities collect in the lower part of the housing, they can be removed by briefly opening the ball valve.

This cleaning method makes it easier to keep the filter in good working condition and reduces service time. An additional advantage is the possibility of easy replacement of the filter insert and filter housing, which helps maintain a long service life of the entire assembly.
