Description

Aquafilter FCCBKDF-STO is a two-stage filter cartridge for cold water, combining mechanical filtration, activated carbon, and KDF® media. This water filter works well in countertop filters, under-sink systems, and many installations where effective water treatment, better taste, and reduction of selected contaminants matter. The cartridge traps mechanical sediment, reduces chlorine and substances that worsen odor, while also supporting the operation of a household water filtration system, including solutions used before setups such as an osmotic filter or a reverse osmosis system.

Two-stage Aquafilter cartridge for effective water filtration

The FCCBKDF-STO model is a two-stage polypropylene-carbon cartridge with KDF® media, designed for treating cold drinking water or general utility water. The cartridge design combines two complementary filtration stages, improving water quality both mechanically and chemically.

The cartridge is especially recommended for countertop filters from the FHCTF, FHCTF1, and FHCTF2 series, as well as for under-sink systems. It also fits most 10-inch inline housings, under-sink systems, and countertop filters available on the market.

How does the FCCBKDF-STO cartridge work?

The cartridge is built with two working layers, each responsible for a different scope of water purification.

First layer – mechanical filtration

The first layer is polypropylene nonwoven fabric. Its task is to remove mechanical impurities present in water, such as:

  • rust,
  • sand,
  • silt,
  • suspended solids.

This layer retains particles with a grain size of no less than 10 µm, protecting the next elements of the filtration system and improving water clarity.

Second layer – activated carbon and KDF® media

The second filtration stage uses a combination of activated carbon and KDF® media. At this stage, the following are removed from the water:

  • heavy metals: arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury,
  • iron compounds,
  • hydrogen sulfide,
  • pesticides.

Additionally, the activated carbon used in the cartridge reduces:

  • chlorine,
  • chlorine-derived solvents,
  • aromatic hydrocarbons,
  • polyaromatic compounds,
  • phenol,
  • benzene,
  • organic substances.

The effect of the carbon layer is also a noticeable improvement in the taste and odor of the water. The KDF® media also exhibits bacteriostatic properties, which help prevent the growth of bacterial flora on the filtration media.

The cartridge is intended exclusively for cold drinking water or general utility water. It should not be used for microbiologically contaminated water or water of unknown origin.

To extend the service life of the cartridge, it is recommended to install an additional housing with a mechanical cartridge from the FCPS or FCPP series before the housing with the carbon cartridge.

The service life of the cartridge depends on the quality of the feed water and the intensity of use.
