Cartridges from the WP series are made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric and are used to remove mechanical impurities present in water. The WP20-5B model has been designed for operation in BIG BLUE 20" line housings and in HHBB-20B water treatment stations.

In practice, this means effective retention of contaminants such as sand, silt, rust and other suspended solids that can worsen water quality and accelerate installation wear. This type of pre-filtration is important both in simple domestic systems and in more advanced water treatment solutions, where the mechanical cartridge protects subsequent filtration stages.

Why does 5-micron filtration matter?

Such a cartridge can serve as the first protective stage before further water treatment, and in many installations it is used ahead of specialist cartridges. It also works well as protection for components such as valves, taps, fittings and other parts exposed to contact with suspended solids.

Construction and material

The WP20-5B model is made of polypropylene nonwoven fabric. The appropriately formed structure of the material enables filtration through the entire volume of the cartridge, which supports effective capture of mechanical impurities from flowing water.

This solution is widely used as a mechanical pre-filtration stage in water treatment systems. The cartridge can work with installations in which a carbon filter, softening medium, iron removal medium, as well as a more advanced domestic water preparation system, operate later.

Operation and replacement

The cartridge service life is up to 14000 litres, although the actual operating life depends on the degree of water contamination. The greater the amount of mechanical suspended solids, the faster the filter material wears out.

To maintain filtration effectiveness and properly protect the installation, it is worth checking the condition of the cartridge regularly and replacing it according to operating conditions. This applies especially to installations with water containing elevated levels of sand, silt or rust.
